How to Fill New Voter Registration Form 6A  

Form 6A is specifically designed for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) who want to register as voters while residing abroad. Here’s a step-by-step guide to filling out the form correctly.

Step 1: Access the Form

• Visit the official New Voter Registration Service Portal: https://www.nvsp.in
• Click on “Form 6A – Registration for Overseas Voter”
• You can also download Form 6A (PDF) and submit it physically to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of your home constituency.

Step 2: Fill in Personal Details

• Full Name: Enter your name as per passport.
• Father’s/Mother’s/Spouse’s Name: Provide details as per official documents.
• Date of Birth: Mention your DOB and attach proof (passport, birth certificate, etc.).
• Place of Birth: Enter the district and state where you were born in India.

Step 3: Provide Passport & Citizenship Details

• Indian Passport Number: Mention the passport details and attach a scanned copy.
• Place of Issue: Provide the country and city where your passport was issued.
• Date of Expiry: Mention the expiry date of your passport.
• Country of Current Residence: Enter the country where you presently reside.
• Full Address Abroad: Provide your complete overseas residential address.

Step 4: Provide Address in India

• Permanent Indian Address: Fill in the address where you or your family last resided in India (this determines your constituency).

Step 5: Declaration

• Declare that you are an Indian citizen residing outside India and that you have not applied for voter registration in any other country.

Step 6: Upload Documents

• Scanned copy of your Indian passport (self-attested).
• Recent passport-size photograph in specified format.

Step 7: Submit the Form

• Review all details carefully.
• Click “Submit” if applying online.
• If applying offline, send the filled Form 6A along with necessary documents to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) of your home constituency in India.

Step 8: Track Application Status

• Visit NVSP Portal and check the “Track Application Status” section.
• Once approved, your name will be added to the Overseas Electoral Roll, and you will receive updates.

Important Points

✔️ Only Indian citizens living abroad can apply (not holding foreign citizenship).
✔️ No need to be physically present in India for registration.
✔️ NRIs can vote in person at their designated polling booth in India (postal voting not available yet).

How to Download e-Voter ID Card (e-EPIC) 2025

• Visit the Official Website – Go to the National Voter Service Portal (NVSP) https://www.nvsp.in or use the Voter Helpline App

• Login to Your Account – Use your EPIC number (Voter ID number) and password to log in. New users can register using their mobile number and OTP

• Go to e-EPIC Download Option – Click on the “Download e-EPIC” tab available on the homepage

• Enter Your Voter ID Details – Provide your EPIC number or reference number from your voter application form

• Verify Your Identity – Authenticate using an OTP sent to your registered mobile number linked with your voter ID

• Download Your e-EPIC – After successful verification, your electronic Voter ID (e-EPIC) will be available for download in PDF format

• Save and Print – Store the PDF file on your device and print it for physical use if needed

• Use for Official Purposes – The e-EPIC is a valid digital voter ID and can be used as identity proof for elections and other official purposes
